Some are based on educational philosophies or are simply a way for other families to connect. They help families stay informed of actions each individual family may need to take in regards to legislation that would adversely affect home school freedoms. | Classical Conversations Coop Classical Conversations groups: Classical Conversations is an academic program which provides once-a-week classes within a committed Christian community. Offering structure and support, as well as fellowship for students and parents,there are three different programs within the community: Foundations (K4- 6th), Essentials (4th - 6th), and Challenge (7th - 12th). All programs employ the Classical method as the vehicle for learning. The morning Foundations program is for mothers (or fathers) and their children, ages 12 and under. Trained tutors, who are homeschool parents, lead each group of students as they participate in a rigorous memory program encompassing history, geography, Latin, English grammar, math, and science. Additionally, students participate weekly in a science experiment, art project, and an oral presentation. The afternoon Essentials program, for 3rd–6th grade children, meets for 2 hours in the afternoon and provides a trained tutor who teaches 32 demanding language arts program and leads a Math Slam competition. The writing curriculum used in this program is the Institute for Excellence in Writing. Both the Foundations and Essentials programs meet for 24 weeks during the school year. The Challenge program is designed for junior high and high school students. This program offers Latin, logic, rhetoric, science,literature, writing, geography, debate and math,and it is a complete curriculum lasting 30 weeks.
